What Schools Forgot To Teach

Your child learns Math, Science, English. But do they learn what to do when big feelings take over? How to calm down before they explode? How to be brave when they’re scared?

Understand What's Happening Inside

Children learn to recognize and name their emotions and not just "happy" or "sad," but the full range of what they feel. They discover where feelings live in their body and what triggers them.

Express Themselves & Be Brave

Through art, movement, and creative play, children practice showing what's inside - safely. They do one small brave act and get celebrated for it.

Meaningful Friendships

Children connect with like-minded peers, learn empathy, teamwork, respectful communication, and the value of supporting one another.

Learn to Calm Down (Before They Explode)

Simple, body-based tools that actually work. Breathing techniques, shaking it out, grounding exercises - things they can use tonight, not just concepts they'll forget.

Take the Learning Home

Every child leaves with practical tools, memorable experiences, and simple habits they can continue using long after the retreat ends.

THE JOURNEY

Know It. Handle It. Show It. Take It Home.

Zone 1: KNOW IT

"What's happening inside me?" Children build emotional vocabulary, create their personal body map, and discover where feelings show up physically. They leave this zone able to name what they feel and that’s the first step to managing it.

Zone 2: HANDLE IT

"What do I do when big feelings come?" The traffic light system (green/yellow/red zones) plus three body-based tools: Breathe, Shake, Ground. They practice with real scenarios from their lives.

Zone 3: SHOW IT

"Can I express what's inside - and be brave?" Creative expression through art and movement. One small brave act - volunteering, sharing, leading - that gets witnessed and celebrated.

Zone 4: TAKE IT HOME

"Integration + Parent Connection" Children create their "My Promise to Myself" card. Meanwhile, parents join for a 30-minute session where they learn what we did, what we noticed, and how to continue at home.

OUR APPROACH

Learn By Doing. Grow By Experiencing.

Most programs lecture children about emotions or keep them busy with activities. We do neither.

Every experience at The Missing Education is designed using four expressive modalities – Movement, Art, Music, and Drama – grounded in developmental psychology and neuroscience.

Children don’t just hear about emotional regulation. They feel it in their bodies. They don’t just learn about bravery. They practice it in a safe space.

What Parents Say About YST

What Parents Say About YST Workshops

Preeti doesn't make you feel like a bad parent. She explains the science in a way that makes you go 'oh, THAT'S why it's so hard.' I finally stopped blaming myself.

Ramesh K Parent of a 8-year-old, Mumbai

The morning routine was our battlefield. Two weeks after the workshop, my son gets ready on his own most days. Not perfect, but so much better. The connection-beforedirection thing actually works.

Priya S. Parent of a 6-year-old, Pune

What I loved most was the parent guidance after. They didn't just 'fix' my child and send him back. They helped me understand how to continue what they started.

FAQ's

What Parents Ask

That's completely okay. The last 30 minutes include a parent session where we share what we did, what we noticed (in general terms), and how to continue at home. You'll also receive printed guides and a follow-up check-in on Day 3.

Most workshops are either lecture-based (boring) or purely activity-based (fun but no depth). We use experiential learning - movement, art, music, drama - that's engaging AND meaningful. Children don't realize they're learning; they think they're playing.

No. This is education, not therapy. We teach emotional literacy skills that benefit ALL children - not just those with specific challenges. Think of it like learning to read, but for emotions.

Children with mild to moderate challenges often benefit greatly. However, if your child requires one-on-one clinical support, this group setting may not be the right fit. WhatsApp us to discuss - we're happy to advise.

Comfortable clothes they can move in. We'll provide all materials and snacks. No screens allowed during the workshop.

We request parents to drop off and return for the last 30 minutes (parent session). Children open up more when parents aren't watching, it's part of what makes the space safe.

Full refund if you cancel 7+ days before. 50% refund for 3-7 days. No refund within 3 days (but you can transfer your spot to another child).
